It’s important to understand that travellers are required to apply for a Permit of Import or Export to be allowed to enter or leave Vanuatu with a pet. This means that travelling with a pet means importing and exporting living animals in regards to the Law and is handle using cargo services.
Step 1 ▪ Contact a travel agent for pets that will assist you at every step of the import process. This step is not mandatory but strongly recommended.
Step 2 ▪ Check and make sure to comply with the export regulations of your country of departure. You may need to schedule a consultation with an approved veterinary practice.
Step 3 ▪ Apply for a Permit of Import to the Biosecurity Department of Vanuatu.

Due to the implementation of new safety measures and regulations, travellers are recommended to check all requirements prior to travelling abroad with their pets with the competent authorities in both their country of departure and arrival.
All passengers entering Vanuatu must remain in isolation for 14 days at a designated quarantine facility however, this regulation does not apply to living animals.
Vanuatu does not require living animals to get test for COVID-19 prior to entering the country but a health assessment is required and shall be conducted by an accredited veterinarian of the country of departure.
