SANTO AIRPORT
Santo International Airport is the main airport serving Espiritu Santo, the largest island in Vanuatu. It is located just outside Luganville, the island’s main town, and is the second-busiest airport in the country after Port Vila. The airport handles both domestic flights and some international flights, mainly connecting Santo with Port Vila and selected regional destinations. Facilities are basic but more developed than those at smaller island airports, and transport to Luganville and nearby resorts is easy by taxi or hotel transfer, making it a convenient entry point for travellers visiting northern Vanuatu.
TANNA AIRPORT
Tanna Airport is a small domestic airport serving Tanna Island in Vanuatu. It is located near the village of Whitegrass, about 3-4 kilometres from the main town of Lenakel, making it the main entry point for visitors to the island. The airport primarily handles domestic flights from Port Vila, with services usually operated by Air Vanuatu and occasional charter flights.
Facilities at the airport are basic and include a small terminal with check-in counters, a waiting area, and limited refreshments, with no duty-free shopping or advanced passenger services. Transport from the airport is mainly by pre-arranged resorts transfers, taxis, or mini-buses, and travellers are advised to carry cash and allow extra time, as flights and services can be affected by weather and island conditions.
